1.     The artist that is being evaluated is  Snoop Dogg. His music can be classified as R&B, Hip-Hop and Rap.

2.     Snoop Doggs has had many hit songs that have been on billboards top charts including : “Gin And Juice”, “I want to Rock” “Ain’t Nothing but a G thang baby”, and “Drop It Like its’ Hot”.

3.      Snoop Dogg also known as “Calvin Cordoazar Brodus Jr” has been around since the 1990’s.At first he had many bad mishaps with the law and this stalled his music career for a while. When all his mishaps finally cleared up he came back and gangsta rap wasn’t as popular but he found a way to stay afloat and make himself popular since the 90’s. Snoops music is popular because of his collaborations with many artists and catchy violent, rhyming lyrics combined with Ebonics.

4.     Snoop usually sports a “gangster” dressing style. I believe he sports this style because he is from, Long Beach, California, and was once a “Crip” gang member. This was the culture throughout his whole life.  Snoop wears baggy jeans, shirts and blingy necklaces. He also always or most of the time has a cane in his hand symbolizing his lifestyle; an old rich stylish pimp. His hair is usually styled in cornrows or relaxed with a perm.

5.     The lyrics to the song “young and free” are catchy and inspiring to young teenagers. An example would be where [Bruno Mars sings] So what we get drunk? So what we smoke weed? We're just having fun. We don't care who sees so what we go out? That's how it’s supposed to be Living young and wild and free. I went with this song to match the spring break theme and this song is No. 9 on Billboards Hottest List this week. Next week will be spring break, so as you know most students who will be partying will probably be partying to this song. Another example where Snoop relates to his adult fans would be where he sings: [Snoop Dogg] You know what? It's like I'm 17 again Peach fuzz on my face Lookin', on the case Tryna find a hella taste Oh my god, I'm on the chase, Chevy It’s gettin' kinda heavy, relevant, sellin' itDippin' away, time keeps slippin' away Zip in the safe, flippin' for pay Tippin' like I'm drippin' in paintUp front, four blunts, like, "Khalifa put the weed in a J". The words are erythematic and catchy. Snoop relates to his older fans by rapping about songs that make him feel young and mentioning that he flips houses for money and his profit is kept in a safe. Snoop smokes hashish to forget about his everyday problems.

6.     The music video that I watched was “young and free” by Snoop, Whiz Kaliffa and Bruno Mars. Snoop is known for collaborating with many artists. The videos’ setting is in a high school with teenagers smoking hashish. Students are smoking in the hallways and in the principal’s office. Afterwards the scene changes and cars are parked at a drive in movie where teenagers are partying. Teenagers are having fun throwing popcorn around and teenage girls are dressed in bikinis sliding down an inflatable slide with bubble foam in it. Snoop Dogg and Wiz Kaliffa are “high” throughout the video and have flashbacks of all the fun they had and are still having.

7.     I don’t think I would like Snoops popularity to come to an end. He always has fun in his videos and I like his rhythmic rapping. I believe his music makes him feel young and that’s why he doesn’t look like he’s 40.  I would like to see him tone it a bit down and not appeal so much to drug use. I can see that he’s trying to say to have fun while you’re young and enjoy it. It’s not all about fun and games, but he does have a point .I think high school should be the last stop on a joy ride. Eighteen is the legal age limit so teenagers have to decide either to be dropouts or continue studying to pursue a college degree. In the past Snoop’s lyrics were violent aka gangsta rap, like all artists I think you have to come up with songs that sell and appeal to the younger generations.
